Meeting Neil Gaiman
Last night I met a hero of mine. It was in a crypt below a church with the thunder of drums hanging heavy and ominous in the air. And a right cracking night it was, too. You might not have heard of Neil Gaiman. At least, you might not have heard of him if you’re deaf and blind, and have spent the last 20 years living in a ditch. On the moon. Just in case this describes you, here’s a …
Edinburgh 2011
Well that’s it for another year. My appearances at the 2011 Edinburgh International Book Festival are done and dusted. This was my second year at the festival, and this year I was taking part in two events, instead of one. Yesterday I spoke to an audience of around 200 from four or five different schools. They’d all come to hear me talk about Invisible Fiends, but they got more than they bargained for when MY FEET EXPLODED as I stepped …

Some upcoming events
I’ve got some public events coming up soon, and I thought I’d best let you know about them. You know, in case you wanted to come or that. It’d be lovely if you could. The first one, which I’m hugely excited about, is at this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival. If you remember, I was there last year, and it all seemed to go surprisingly well. So well, in fact, that I’ve been invited back. This year, though, it’s going …

Snowed in
Got back from a couple of days at the AYE WRITE festival in Glasgow on Friday night. Great fun, just like last year, and it was good to meet up with me old mucker, Tommy Donbavand, and to finally meet CHANGELING author, Steve Feasey in person. While there, I managed to finish a rewrite of INVISIBLE FIENDS: THE BEAST (available to pre-order on Amazon now), in which Kyle and Ameena find themselves trapped in a snowed in village and hunted …

Mega Blog Catch-up Post
Wow. March. When did that happen? I know, I know – immediately after February and right before April, but, I mean… how did it get here so fast? February in particular seemed to fly by with a whoosh. First there was the Crowmaster Tour. Then we moved house (again!). And then there was the little matter of MR MUMBLES winning the Royal Mail Award for Scottish Children’s Books. Oh, and I crammed a few events in there, and wrote around …

The Crowmaster Tour Begins
I am now on the train heading to Penrith, getting ready to kick off The Crowmaster Tour. I made the train with seconds to spare, knackered from carrying my suitcase, laptop, not-at-all-girly manbag and Mr Mumbles banner the mile and a half from my house. Still, if that close call is the worst thing to happen this week, I’ll be doing well. I’m going to photo blog the whole week. Apologies for the dullness of the first photo.
