The 13th Horseman Reviews and Awards
It’s now well over a year since The 13th Horseman was published, so it’s great to see new reviews still regularly popping up online. Here are a few I’ve come across recently. I’m sharing them now because this is a big week for the book, as it’s up for the Grampian Children’s Book Award on Wednesday. Competition is stiff, so it’ll have its work cut out for it if it’s going to win, but win or lose the ceremony should …

A Tarzan Trailer Swings In
One of my favourite action adventure series of recent years is Andy Briggs’ Tarzan reboot. It’s dark, gritty and modern, while still harking back to the classic adventure tales which first introduced us to the Lord of the Apes. Andy posted a trailer on Twitter earlier today, and I wanted to share it here. If you haven’t checked out the books yet, then I can really recommend them. Visit Andy’s site to find out more.

Books I have loved
One of the best things about being an author is that you get to sit around drinking tea and reading lots of books and can pretend it’s all research. Recently, I read Maggot Moon by the brilliant Sally Gardner and was blown away by it. So blown away was I, in fact, that when I found myself circling for several hours in an aeroplane, unable to land due to fog, I sat and read the whole book again. Incredibly, it was …
The Fury Blog Tour
Having recently read Alexander Gordon Smith’s new book, THE FURY (review here), I was delighted to be asked to take part in his blog tour to promote the book. I caught up with Gordon via Skype and we chatted about the book, horror, and writing in general. I’ve been trying to put the audio up here for everyone to listen to, but some wacky technical problems are making it difficult. I’m going to try saving it in some different formats …

Review: THE FURY
Review: THE FURY by Alexander Gordon Smith First up a disclaimer: I’ve met Alexander Gordon Smith a few times. We’ve shared a stage together (along with Darren Shan), we’ve got lost in Edinburgh together, we’ve even hugged large animals together. Despite this, I would have absolutely no hesitation or remorse in saying his new novel, THE FURY, was rubbish if it was. Thankfully, it isn’t. It’s flippin’ ace. Here’s the official blurb/synopsis: Imagine if one day, without warning, the entire …

More Reviews of The 13th Horseman
Since I wrote this post several new reviews of The 13th Horseman have popped up online, and I’m pleased to report they’ve all been hugely complimentary. I’ve collected some of them here in case you need any further convincing to part with your cash and buy it. Don’t forget, you can also read the “prequel” to the book in blog format, over at The13thHorseman.com. If you’ve already read the book, you might spot one or two little in-jokes that those …

Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists
A while back I asked on Twitter what people would like to see more of here on my blog. A few people said they’d like to see some reviews of books I’ve enjoyed. I already do write some reviews over at The Phantom Zone, but there are a lot of books I read which don’t necessarily fit on that site, so I thought maybe posting some here might be a good idea after all. First up it’s Pirates! In an …
