I have been a bad blogger. A lazy blogger. My last blog post was way back on 26th April, and it’s now… um… some time in June. I can only apologise. I’ve let you down, and I’ve let myself down, and I can assure you that it probably won’t happen again. For a while.
BUT ANYWAY.
It’s the 400th blog post here on BarryHutchison.com. What does that mean? It means there have been 399 other posts before this one. It means in 100 more posts I’ll have reached the magic 500 and it means it’s time for a BIG BLOG POST EXTRAVAGANZA!
I have no idea what that means, though, so I’ll just stick up some videos and stuff instead.
What’s been happening over the past (almost) two months. Well, funny you should ask. Not that you did, but I know you wanted to. I know all.
First up, The 13th Horseman had its official launch in New Zealand, thanks to the utterly brilliant Zac Harding, a librarian in Christchurch who has been a huge supporter of mine since Invisible Fiends started to come out.
Zac has worked so hard to help spread the word about my books that I’ve named the main character in my next Afterworlds novel – THE BOOK OF DOOM – after him. The description of the story you can read if you follow that link has the character’s name as “Adam”, but I’ve changed that in honour of Zac’s all-round brilliance.
In the whole “Who is your favourite Horseman?” debate, Zac stands firmly in the Famine camp, as evidenced by his t-shirt here:
The launch event that Zac organised even included a Famine-esque feast of cakes, crisps, nibbles and other stuff that’s making me hungry just thinking about it.
Unfortunately I was unable to jet over to New Zealand to attend the launch myself, but I did appear – thanks to the wonders of technology – on a big video screen. A bit like the Wizard of Oz. But without the flying monkeys.
Here’s the first of three videos I made for the event. I’m hoping at the end it’ll link through to the next one, otherwise you can view them all on my YouTube channel.
As well as the videos I also made some bookplates for Zac to download and print off. If you’d like to print off your own bookplate to shove inside a copy of one of my books (preferably one you actually own), click the image below, print it out, and Bob’s your uncle.
There is lots of other news to share, but I’ll leave it there for now. I’m knackered after writing a brand new book for 7-9 year olds in two days. Also, there was the little matter of me CARRYING THE OLYMPIC TORCH TODAY!
OK, that’s a lie. I didn’t carry it but I did see it and, frankly, that was exhausting enough. These eyes ain’t as young as they used to be.
Whatever that means.
Happy 400th post to me!

I totally thought you were being serious about the Olympic torch then lol. I just missed it when it passed by us!
Congrats on the 400th post
