He stood by the wall, his gnarled hands clutching his leather case. In three minutes, the only friend he had ever known would be dead.
And he couldn’t wait.
Back in August I took part in a blog tour, contributing posts to a number of blogs as I promoted the latest Fiends book, DOC MORTIS. For part of this tour I wrote an exclusive prequel to the book – THE RISE OF DOC MORTIS – which was published across a number of lovely book-related websites.
Now, for the first time, I’ve collected all five parts of the story together in one handy PDF file. Over six thousand perfectly formed words coming together to create a tale as disturbing and unsettling as anything in the Invisible Fiends series so far. And it’s yours for free, you lucky gits.
Get The Rise of Doc Mortis here, then you can read it on screen, print it off, or save it to your e-reader like one of them fancy ebook things. Just don’t try and sell it or I will hunt you down and end you. I will end you. Understood?!

u are the best childrens athor

Cheers, Ryan! Glad you like it
You are my favourite author. you are so clever the way that you write you books and I love doc mortis.
Thanks, Thomas! Doc Mortis is probably the scariest book of the whole series (except maybe the last one), so good on you for liking it!

I know you would be the man to help in a horror crisis. One of my kids has to read a horror short story for homework and (wimps that we are) it’s just not a genre we have much of in the house. So I thought of you, we tiptoed cautiously onto your website, and we found Doc Mortis. She’s reading it now. I’ll let you know what she thinks, if she’s still able to speak later on rather than gibber in terror!
Cool books I saw you at the zion center I got a pic taken
Cheers, Tayla. I loved that event – one of my favourites of last year. Which school were you with?
