The First Draft Sandwich

After several months of writing, including a few weeks in which I feared I was never going to get there, I today reached the end of my latest book. It’s a standalone novel which is loosely connected to THE 13TH HORSEMAN, but that’s not important right now. What I’d like to talk to you about today is the writing process and, more specifically, the rewriting process. You see, writing a book is a lot like making a sandwich. Normally when …

The complete RISE OF DOC MORTIS

He stood by the wall, his gnarled hands clutching his leather case. In three minutes, the only friend he had ever known would be dead. And he couldn’t wait. What do you think of Drew’s artwork? Let me know in the …

Jack and Jim’s 1 in 6 run

Did you know that 1 in 6 adults in the UK have the reading age of an 11-year-old? This is a problem that the National Literacy Trust is working hard to address, and yet the government this year announced that they would no longer be providing the trust with funding. While the government appears not to care about the country’s literacy levels, the lovely people at the NLT still do, and they’re working hard to raise the money necessary to …
