The fourth thrilling book in this darkly funny horror series Darren Shan called ‘deliciously nightmarish’.

Kyle wakes up in hospital – which is strange, because he doesn’t remember being ill. And that’s not all. He’s also deliriously flitting in and out of the Darkest Corners, and in the shadow version of the hospital the surfaces aren’t clean, and the sharp instruments aren’t used for healing.

It’s Kyle’s most terrifying experience yet, and it’s about to get much, much worse.

The doctor will see him now…

  • Hi Barry I came to your visit to Dumbarton Library with my P7 class in November. At the time we had just finished Mr Mumbles. We have continued working our way through the series and have now reached Doc Mortis, the children are really enjoying this book (as they have all of them) but I felt compelled to get in touch. We reached the part of the book where Kyle enters the Gallery …… if I hadn’t met you in person and know that you are a normal person I’d be concerned for your mental health!! A wonderful piece of descriptive writing which really allowed the reader to imagine exactly what was in the gallery (unfortunately)! The baby with the dogs head ?????? The kids loved every sentence. Thanks again for a great series which has really engaged my class. Mrs Doleman, Braehead Primary School.

    1. Hi Mrs Doleman!

You had me worried for a moment there – I thought you were going to say the children had been traumatised for life. I actually worry a little myself sometimes that Doc Mortis emerged from within my head somewhere. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he never comes back…
