The Book of Doom

The second hilarious book in Barry’s AFTERWORLDS sequence – comic fantasy perfect for fans of Pratchett and Douglas Adams. There’s panic up in Heaven. They have mislaid the BOOK OF DOOM – the most important object in existence. Oopsy. They think Satan might have stolen it, the sneaky...

Book 4 and a Book-signing

I was amazed to find yesterday that Invisible Fiends book 4 is already available to pre-order on Amazon, almost a full year before it is due to be published. There’s no cover or description for the book, just the title – Doc Mortis.

It’s way too early for me to be able to reveal much about the book, particularly as it’s still only at first draft stage! What I can say is that it’s far and away the scariest of the series (so far!), and Doc Mortis himself is a particularly disturbing character. Oh, what the hell, here’s a teen extract:

‘What will you do to me?’ I asked, biting the inside of my cheek to keep my voice from wavering.

Doc’s eyes shimmered as he peered at me over the top of his little round glasses. His answer came as a soft giggle of excitement that turned my stomach and made my flesh crawl. ‘Anything,’ he said. ‘Anything I want.’

Don’t say I’m not good to you. If you want to be one of the first people to read more of the story, click here to pre-order on Amazon.

Finally, just a quick heads up on a public event I’m doing soon. I’ll be at the Edinburgh Bookshop on Friday 8th October, and Saturday 9th October as their Writer in Residence. I’ll be there from 1pm to 5pm on Friday, and 11am to 5pm on Saturday, working on Invisible Fiends 5, chatting to anyone who says hello, and signing books.

You can also catch me in Madras College, St Andrews on the 25th of September, as part of the Fife Children’s Book Festival. More info on that can be found here.

      Hey Daisy!

The third book is called The Crowmaster. It’s available to pre-order on Amazon now, if you want to make sure you get it before it’s in the shops! It’s due out on 5th February 2011, but it’ll probably be out a week or so before that.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the rest of the series so far. There’s going to be a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT on here tomorrow about something else I’m working on, so come back to find out what it is!

No idea how to change your little picture thingy. I think if you set up an account at WordPress.com you can set your own icon and it’ll show up on all WordPress blogs you post on.
