I have fans – the proof!
Back in this post I mentioned Ryan, Julie and Rebecca, three fans of the Invisible Fiends series I met at the closing day of the Fife Children’s Book Festival. Knowing how cynical you all are, I’m fairly confident none of you believed me when I said I had fans, but now, thanks to their mum, Rona, I have proof! Check it out… Note that those aren’t tattoos on the girls’ faces. It’s facepaint. They’re not mental or anything. Look! Ryan …
W is for Waterstone’s
This morning I jumped on a train (not literally, that would be dangerous) and zoomed over to Glasgow, where I met the lovely Kate Manning from HarperCollins Children’s Books. Kate had roped me into being guest speaker at a Waterstone’s staff training day, with the plan being that I would stand up and talk to 60 or so members of Waterstone’s staff, all of whom work in children’s departments. I was a bit unsure of what to say, so in …

Back on the Blogging Trail
I know it’s been 11 days since my last blog post, and I know, quite frankly, that that just isn’t good enough, but it’s been a crazy month full of busy stuff and madness, so I’m hoping you might be able to chuck me a few handfuls of pity and forgiveness if I promise to make an effort to post more regularly in future. There’s no cover or description for the book, just the title – Doc Mortis. It’s way too early for me to be able to reveal much about the book, particularly as it’s still only at first draft stage! What I can say is that it’s far and away the scariest of …

The Royal Mail Awards 2010
This morning, the shortlist for the Royal Mail Award for Scottish Children’s Books was announced at the HQ of the Scottish Book Trust in Edinburgh. I was lucky enough to be invited along to the announcement because I now live quite close by and, well, because one of my books made the shortlist! The awards are split into three age categories – 0-7, 8-11 and 12-16. There are three books in each category, and Invisible Fiends: Mr Mumbles has been …
Random Photos from my Phone
Back in December 2008, I reached a whopping one hundred posts here on BarryHutchison.com. To celebrate, I posted a selection of random photographs I had stored on my mobile phone. You can see that post here. We’re not celebrating anything today (although, we will be celebrating something towards the end of next week…) but I thought I’d stick up a few more photos from my phone, so I can finally delete the bloody things off my memory card. So, here …
