What I think is interesting, Sarah, is how we change so much over the years. Or maybe we don’t, and the world just changes around us. I’d love to be able to jump back 20 odd years and remember how it felt to be me then. Did I think the same way? I can’t remember. And now, I suppose, I’ll never know.

When I was a kid, I was scared of those little aliens on “Sesame Street” that made that high-pitched sound. To this day I could not tell you why. I think even then I didn’t know. I was also scared of an only mildly disturbing Mickey Mouse characters short film cartoon. (But not of much else, incidentally.) So it’s OK.

On another note, I loved reading this because I constantly think to myself about what my 12-year-old self would think of me if she could see me now. She might be impressed by the fact that I no longer wear sweatpants and turtlenecks as a style combination, and would undoubtedly admire my talkativeness and range of friends (both changes from those early days). But would she approve of my music choices, my living situation, my personal style?

I think, mostly, she’d just be slightly disappointed I wasn’t published already.

Wow, what a moving little story, nearly had me in tears there. And to think not that long ago you were trying to point out to Skeletor the inadequacies of his plans for conquest of Eternia. Ain’t life strange!
