The Early Bird

No, your eyes don’t deceive you. The time stamp up there at the top of the post really does say I wrote this at 6am. What’s more, I’ve already been awake by this point for two and a half hours. Such are the delights, dear reader, of babies.

Eleven days ago, Fiona gave birth to the criminally gorgeous Mia Anne Hutchison. In that time, between the two of us, we’ve probably amassed about 30 hours of sleep in total. Mia, on the other hand, has managed to sleep through about 70% of those eleven days, waking only to feed and stare at things with intense fascination. Sort of like a vampire on the Antiques Roadshow.

That analogy makes almost no sense, I know. Sorry about that. It’s the sleep deprivation, what can I say?

Uh-oh, she’s waking up again! Feeding time. I’ll finish this later…
