On Friday, after a fortnight or so of rewriting, I managed to put the finishing touches to my rewrite of the manuscript we are for the moment calling Project IFR.
The rewrite involved making some pretty sizeable changes, mostly because when I wrote draft one I had no idea where the rest of the series was going. Now that I know exactly how the whole thing progresses and ends, I had to go back and make the first book fit.
I’ve never been a big fan of rewrites, even though I know they’re a necessary part of shaping a story. This time round, though, I had a ball, and I think the manuscript has been massively improved upon.
